Self Motivation In Downtimes

Have a purpose/Goal- One of the biggest causes of stress and demotivation is not to have a purpose or a goal. Have small achievable goals and a basic purpose of spending your day, or life. It could be personal; like improving your reading ability or reducing weight; it could be professional like finishing a report or task; it could be social like volunteering for a small cause. This will make you look forward rather than ponder backward over all that you have not got.

Discover a Passion- Discover what you like doing best, it may be music, drawing, singing, playing or any other occupation which you love doing. Plan to indulge in it for short periods of time when you really feel down and out to get your energy back. Use it to reward yourself for small goal achievements.

Find a mentee or Coachee- The best way to forget your own problems is by becoming involved in other people’s problems. Find someone who needs your help in motivation. Cheer them up and encourage them. When you feel you are motivating somebody you will automatically become energized and motivated.

Read inspirational biographies- All great people have started down and out. When you read the stories of all these apparently successful people, about whom you thought that they were plain lucky, and find out how hard their lives were, one becomes inspired and starts dreaming positively.

Diversify your sources of happiness- Donot become obsessed with “that one thing or one person”. Try to get joy out of small things and blessings; like a beautiful quotation, a lovely tree on your way to the office, a kid laughing with gay abandon, a joke sent by a witty friend etc. The advantage of this diversification is that if one source becomes dry there are always other sources of happiness to draw upon.

Very true, setting goals and objective (short term and long term) get people motivated. Inspiration(s) are the life line to achieve those goals.

Excellent thoughts, Andleeb you are asset and " God Gifted Motivated ".
One has only one enemy in his or her development which is him/herself. Self motivated people never fall dawn ever, Try to live "postitive living" lived like Muhammad(PBUH) with highest level of tollerance.
